Wärtsilä Model Wizard

Wärtsilä Model Wizard is a multi-functional development toolkit designed for the development and modification of high-quality marine simulation area databases and ship models for use in both marine simulators and other applications that use the Wärtsilä Seagull visualisation system.

Its user-friendly interface helps create precise databases for the most realistic and effective training models for specific areas as well as whole ship models that can be implemented remotely from anywhere in the world.

It comes with ready-to-use libraries for standard 3D objects and textures that help you develop a variety of simulation databases — electronic vector chart, terrain and depths, radar, models of water flow distribution and other visuals — very quickly and effortlessly. It also allows editing databases for existent ship models and sailing areas, helping you keep the databases up to date with ease.

Key benefits

  • Automatically create and customise navigation areas upon a set of installed electronic charts. Also, basic scenes can be easily generated from a user-selected charts set.
  • Keep all customer databases up to date effortlessly. Update existing areas and models directly from the customer’s NTPRO simulator collection.
  • Develop realistic and custom models as per need: Build navigational environments models (depths, aids to navigation, mooring facilities, etc.) and the ship’s motion models to fully fit the training or investigation specific objectives.
  • No 3D-modelling skills are required when constructing basic level navigational areas. The sailing areas editor is designed to look like an electronic charts editor, making operations easy and comfortable even for operators unfamiliar with 3D editing.
  • Edit and install updates with ease: The source data needed to correct an existing database are stored in a distributive file. This makes the same data file suitable for both installations and future editing and corrections, thereby ensuring that the correct version of the database is edited every time.
  • Get auto synchronised datasets: With fully integrated and self-concordant output databases, all the components such as visual and radar imitator, electronic charts and others are generated on the same datasets ensuring automatic synchronisation.

Key features

Scene Editor makes editing and creating sailing areas effortless. Key features include:

  • Handy interface designed as a stylised electronic chart editor to make 3D simulations area creation and editing simple.
  • Coastline configuration makes the creation of realistic visuals, such as mooring walls and embankments, easy. The editor also allows the creation of vegetation and settlement areas with the ability to define their generation parameters.
  • Visual Model Editor component of Model Wizard helps extensive object library that makes the addition of 3D objects (prototypes) to the area quick and simple.
  • 3D landscape models can be generated for both terrain and seabed. Bathymetry and elevations data can be easily corrected.
  • Auto-generated navigational aids from data embedded in the same electronic navigational charts that can be quickly corrected when is needed.
  • Auto-generated sailing area radar images database upon the 3D terrain model and chart data.
  • Auto-generated output electronic charts for the sailing area.

Visual Model Editor uncomplicates editing and creation of 3D objects. Key features include:

  • Creation and modification of 3D objects for simulation areas and the visual components of a ship model.
  • Convenient adjustment of object behaviour logic, such as detailing levels and reaction to illumination conditions, as well as the visual ship model parameters, such as signal states and radars’ properties.
  • Integration with Autodesk™ 3ds Max® for editing objects geometry and texturing.

Virtual Shipyard allows developing and editing conventional displacement ship models, including tugboats. Key features include:

  • Powerful development tool for hydrodynamic ship models.
  • Model testing is fully automated.
  • Automated comprehensive explanation (or warning) for each VSY operation.
  • Automated output documentation and reports.
